The finish of the grinding surface varies depending on the powder you are using, so please change it to the powder that matches the grindstone you wish to correct. Coarse whetstones (120, 180) use coarse powder. If the medium whetstone (1000, 1500, 2000) has a large uneven surface, use rough powder to grind and recorrect it using medium grain powder.
